Bourbon Vanilla Cranberry Relish in a glass bowl.

Bourbon Vanilla Cranberry Relish

The recipe for this cranberry relish includes vanilla, a jalapeño pepper and a splash of bourbon. The result is a bit different than any other cranberry relish I have ever tried, while not different enough to raise a red flag. It has a subtle edge and a sweet tang with the vanilla adding a rich depth of flavor.

Cranberry Salsa with Sweet Potato Chips

Cranberries and chiles make an intriguing flavor combination even before you add the ginger, cilantro and honey. Taken as a whole, this unique Cranberry Salsa offers a nice change of pace to a familiar holiday menu. Serve with baked Sweet Potato Chips for added seasonal appeal.

On impulse I placed a bundle in […]

Green Beans with Sesame-Ginger Dressing

As a girl, my absolute favorite vegetable was green beans. My aunt cooked them one way, long and slow with salt, pepper, a little onion and a good dollop of bacon grease. By the time they were served they were soft, salty, bits of wonder. Served carefully with a slotted […]

Asparagus with Toasted Crumbs and Olives

Asparagus with Toasted Bread Crumbs and Olives

Isn’t asparagus wonderful? I just love those elegant bright green spears. They are so pretty on a plate with something sprinkled or drizzled across them, or even on their own. What’s more, asparagus is generally quick and easy to prepare. And so, as I selected vegetables for the week, I […]
