Welcome

Welcome to My Own Sweet Thyme. My name is Lisa…

Lisa Feather, author, content creator of My Own Sweet Thyme

I began food blogging in 2007.

Roots and Branches

Over the past thirteen years I have posted hundreds of recipes, photos and stories at My Own Sweet Thyme. Looking back I would say my photos are now much better than they were in 2007.  I think it is also fair to say that my recipes are often clearer and easier to follow than those I first shared so long ago.  And my writing, while it can still use some polish, has improved. All the same, there is still so much to learn and what I don’t know about food blogging remains as obviously as ever….A Lot.

From the beginning I have posted about food and family. I’ve shared observations, aspirations and an occasional rant. Sometimes I write about gardening and other times travel. Along the way I usually add a recipe for interest and illustration. I am inspired by traditional foodways but also delighted to apply new techniques and ingredients to keep my recipes current. At times I am more focused on the roots, other times the branches, always cognizant that both are essential to bearing fruit and feeding a family.

A New Home

Over the years I discovered that the more I share the more there is to share. My greatest challenge has been in keeping up with the technical details.  On my own, maintaining an uncluttered and functional space to share words and recipes left me running to catch up with the housekeeping when I would much rather sit down and tell a story.

But seasons change and now here I am on-line doing what I have done so many times in the real world this past decade – I’m moving. I hope you like my new space. So far it promises to be more responsive across devices and it has a few other features, like a recipe index, that should make it easier to find posts and recipes and keep them in order.

As you know, I have a habit of doing things in My Own Sweet Thyme. Still, eager to discover the art of food and family, I continue to savor life around the table, one day and one recipe at a time. Please come in and join me. Pull up a chair. I really am so glad you’re here!
